The Stand Off
The bearded eye-roller and I were outside feeding our animals (of the wild variety) and chuckled at the fights going on between the Steller's Jays (with each other) and the squirrel (with the jays).

Some of the jays were afraid of the squirrel, and the squirrel was afraid of one of the jays. It was very funny to watch.

Because I'm too lazy to look for it and post it- you'll have to imagine the western movie stand-off music as you look at the following photos.

Only one nut- who will win?

Two Nut (our name for this squirrel because he never leaves without taking two nuts) wins this one, while another jay looks on

Wondering how that squirrel got away with his nut

Thankfully for the jay, Two Nut took off without his usual stash

More pictures of the wildlife can be found on my flickr account.

I love sitting out and watching the aminals around here.

I'f it had been spring and there had been baby jays, that squirrel would have been on the wrong side of the nut. Jays are wicked when they have babies around.

We have a little sparrow who flies through the sprinkler hose when I water my "garden." He gets a bit wet and then rolls in the grass...lather, rinse, repeat.

When he's done with that, he sits on the big ass pot that holds my hibiscus and lets the water in the flower cups drip on his head.

Total entertainment.

I don't know how long birds live but I hope he comes back next year.

So... a post about a squirrel that you named two nut.

Nope.

I'm just not even going to say another word.

Next entry: I *still* cringe about this, almost 30 years later
