The good news is that I was ahead of schedule
I just received an email from one of my co-workers about the project that has been filling my time since I started in the new group. To give you an idea of the scope of this project, I had to write seven different communications to deliver messages to over 50,000 people. Plus a communication, FAQ and user manual for our customers all over the U.S.

The system was scheduled to go live on 11/30. I scheduled my communications so all but one went out between 11/15 and 11/20. The final communication is set to publish on the day the new system goes live. Again, 11/30.

So, the email I received was:
So, I was noticing a) the meeting requests for Wednesday and b) no other communications about [name of system] on [company intranet] or in my mail.

I'm guessing you were never told that we were planning on going live TODAY so that we have time during the week to correct any issues?

BRILLIANT idea! Let's change the date, but forget to tell the communicator! That way EVERYONE will be surprised!

Is it too early for a gin and tonic? (OK, I don't drink that- but it sounds fun)

My co-workers really could use a lesson in communications. I know just the person to give them that lesson too.

What you have there, is a failure to communicate.

Skip the Gin & Tonic. Pour a glass of wine and toast yourself!

(Kudos to Cozy for pointing out this most perfect example of irony)

Will drink something in your honor. Might be a Diet Coke, but it'll be for you!
