New York, day 1.5
The flight wasn't too bad, except for the dude sitting behind me. Or shall I say, laying- because he was stretched so far under my seat that his feet kept kicking my feet. Every once in a while I gave him a good solid kick in the shins because I just wasn't in the mood to be messed with. It was kind of fun kicking someone, I must say. You know those dumb tourists that fall for the con artists? Meet dumb tourist number one and two- BJ and Lori. We headed toward the taxi's once our flight landed and a guy came up to us and asked us where we were going. I think whether we were going 2 blocks or 50 miles, the price would have been the same- $65 dollars. BJ and I looked at each other and then just blindly followed the guy. We ended up in a beat-down astrovan, quicker than you can say "sucker". Here's a video showing my utter terror (not really, but there were some moments....) We made it safely to the hotel only to find out that we were charged double what a REAL taxi driver would have charged. Oh well, it makes for a fun story-- right? Not much to tell about our first night in New York. I'm happy to say that my brains did NOT explode all over the airplane, but I was awfully tired when we got here. We made it an early night. Yours truly got a full 13 hours of sleep, thankyouverymuch. We were a little crabby about the weather today. Raining and windy. It was as if we were still in Seattle, only there were a lot more people. Thankfully, I knew it was going to rain, so we brought our rain coats. We decided to do a tour with one of those double-decker buses. It was a complete waste of money because the rain fogged up all the windows and you couldn't see a thing. We got out and walked around a couple of times, but got completely soaked. Our first tour guide was 'interesting'. I'd go so far to say he was 'special' and therefore should probably be hands off when it comes to making fun. I'm going to take a chance that I won't go to hell for this. This guy repeated himself and swung back and forth on the bars. It was crazy. I got a video from my phone, but the sound is really poor. Go ahead and watch- then tell me I'm evil for posting and poking fun at the poor guy. BJ and I decided that we're going to forgo the family brunch on Sunday and do the tour again if it's sunny. I want pictures, darnit!! It's getting late here (almost 11pm) so I'm going to end this post and pick it back up tomorrow morning. I have more to share, but the drugs are starting to kick in. Nighty night! RisibleGirl was blabbing on about another adventure on 05/16 at 01:41 PM
