My how time flies…
Wow, I think this is the longest I've stepped away from my blog without a planned interruption.

::ahem:: I suppose I should bullet point this entry since there are many things to write about.
  • The bearded eye-roller and I ran errands yesterday and stopped by Sears to look for something. When BER walked through the appliances center he was immediately hypnotized by the bright shiny objects- a front loading washer and dryer. Red, even.

Bless his heart, he spent almost 20 minutes trying to convince me that we MUST have these beautiful machines. I spent equal time telling him that I just couldn't justify it in my mind because they were over 1000.00 each.

I won. I am still washing clothes in my plain ol' white washer and dryer with 3 settings.

But then, we went through the tool section. That's when I saw the bright shiny objects. We left there with a rototiller. Not even CLOSE to 1000.00, mind you. Everyone wins!

  • My job. Well, I vacillate between "what the heck did I get myself in to", to "wow, I haven't been on top of my game like this in YEARS". So, I think this was an excellent move for me. I still REALLY like the people in my department and haven't had such like-minded co-workers in a very long time.

  • My previous manager's last day was last Thursday. As of that date, she still hadn't given me the opportunity to give back the projects that belong in that department, nor did I have a chance to go over things with the new girl. I'm more than disappointed in the old manager, and any respect I had for her (it was really in shreds by the end of last year, truth be told) is completely gone.

  • Friday, our department had a United Way 'day of caring' event. We went to a local state park and cleaned up the place after a fire. We also cleared out blackberry bushes (the bane of my existence here in my OWN yard) and planted new trees. It was really fun until I had to use the sani-can (honey-bucket, porta-potty; pick a term). Have you ever noticed that those things ECHO? Do you know how uncomfortable it is to pee when you have 10 of your co-workers (mostly men) within 2 feet of the stupid thing? Dudes! Go find some other place to hang out, will ya? Gheesh!

Trust me, I was desperate, or I surely would have waited. I hate those things with a passion.

  • I've decided that the folks who work for our housecleaning service have WAY too much time on their hands. I find things placed in the strangest places after they've come to clean. It used to amuse me because I'd have to think long and hard about why in the heck they'd put something 'there'. Now it borders on annoying, but not annoying enough to give up the service. It's a lovely thought to know that I never have to mop or clean bathrooms.

Some day I'll have to take pictures of the places they put things. Really, it's weird.

Well, the weather is icky outside, so I suspect I won't be playing with my new toy. This bodes well for my blog buddies. I'll see you in the 'hood sometime today.

Good choice on the tiller. You'll have lots of fun with it plus you've got a great guy to keep it runnin' for you!

Out of all the 'girls' I know, I knew YOU'd appreciate the yard tools the most! smile

Yes, I'm with poopie, a tiller is a good investment. You are like me, when we pass the tools, I try to get Sailor something, and he tries to get me something. He won last fall, I have an embroidery machine! Yea! I have been having a ball monogramming corners of fleece blankets for grandkids.
Glad you are still alive, RG. I was really worried. Does BER know how to get online and tell us if anything happened to you? Or would we never know?

An embroidery machine would be a BLAST! Maybe I'll invest in one after I retire in 7.4 years! (not that I'm counting, or anything!)

My sis knows how to get on if anything happens. I'm sorry I was incommunicado and worried you! It's just been a tiring week of learning curve with the new job. The last thing I wanted to do was get on a computer after work! smile

Geez, I thought *I* was a worrier. Annie thinks like I do, only she says it straight out!

Glad all is well, RG. Missed seeing you. Although....you are under no obligation to post.

We DO have lives, you know!!!

Anonymous is right. We do have lives too, sort of, but hey, what you see is what you get. I DO say what I think, much to my regret sometimes. heh heh
Anonymous, do you have a blog? I hope you can get through whatever RG is alluding to.
And you are right, RG about not wanting to get onto the computer after working on it all day. When Sailor was a Farmer, we didn't have a yard. I was busy raising 5 kids and bought myself an electric mower, so I wouldn't have to pull that cord to start it. At least the "lawn" got mowed on a semi-regular basis.
The cobbler's children don't have shoes. Isn't that how the saying goes?
I still missed you.
