Men don’t make passes….
...at girls who wear glasses, right? Actually- that's a myth. the bearded eye-roller loves my glasses and has actually been known to question why I wasn't wearing my glasses at times because he likes them so much. Although my glasses are quite fab, I think my glasses make me look older, not to mention the hassle of living in a rainy state (gee- any guesses?) and having to wipe the rain off my glasses. Need I mention the whole "steaming up" issue when opening the dishwasher? Sure, there are options to glasses, but not for me. I have really dry eyes and was told that I can only wear contacts 'socially' (true story!), so contacts are pretty much out of the question. I can't have lasik because I was told that my corneas are too flat so I ended up getting PRK. Six years later, I'm back to glasses again. I refuse to have PRK again. Why bother? One of my co-workers was talking about not being able to wear contact lenses either, and told me about a great solution. OK, I know this is going to sound like a paid advertisement, but it's not. I promise! She told me about something called Paragon CRT- contact lenses you wear while you sleep that reshape your cornea. You take them out in the morning and your vision is corrected for the day. Yup. Pretty amazing, eh? So I went to her optometrist today to find out if I'm a good candidate. Turns out that I am, lucky me! The examination process was almost an hour long, part of which involved fitting me for the lens. In the 20 minutes I wore the lens, my vision (which isn't horrible at this point, but enough to need glasses) was already partially corrected. Pretty amazing, eh? Apparently, some folks are able to go a couple of days without sleeping in the lens, but most have to wear them every night. By the end of the day, your vision starts going back to the way it was- reminding me of the book "Flowers for Algernon". as an aside- when I read that book for the first time, I cried for days. Anyhoo... I signed up for the program and get my lenses in about a week. It's less expensive than PRK or Lasik and after the initial fitting process (and fee), it's just a matter of yearly eye exams. If your vision changes, you get a different prescription- simple as that. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll also give you the headcount on the increase of passes I receive every day. ::snort:: RisibleGirl was blabbing on about another adventure on 03/20 at 07:42 PM

I love the idea of these lenses (I'm a blind as a bat glasses and contact lens wearer) - good luck with them! RisibleGirl replied:    ![]() Anonymous G wrote:
WOW! You're kidding?!! Hubby and I are going to have to check into this. Sounds wild. Futuristic. And sorta sad...that whole "reverts back to your old vision by the end of the day". (and that book made me sob TOO!!!) RisibleGirl replied:    ![]() Liz wrote:

my friend did this and it didn't work for her. that said, she probably didn't wear the contacts like she was supposed to. that's my guess. she ended up having lasik and that worked great for her. but i truly hope this works for you. i think i'm going for lasik myself... we'll see if i can have it. good luck!
