Imaginary friends
When I was a child, I had an imaginary friend named Ruby. She lived behind the curtains, dontchaknow. I honestly do not remember having an imaginary friend, but my mom tells me that I did. My youngest son (Casey) had one too, named Jimmy. My ex-husband and I used to have a lot of fun with that concept and we'd give Casey presents from 'Jimmy', which just thrilled him to pieces. I have a pretty good memory going back to about four years old, and do not remember Ruby, so I imagine that's about the time that Ruby took her love to town (sorry, still reeling from happiness that Kenny Rogers didn't sing THAT song on AI). I believe that's about when Casey's imaginary friend left as well. I have theories about imaginary friends and 'who' they are. I'll share them in my next post. Tell me- did you have an imaginary friend? If so, what was his or her name and why do you think kids have imaginary friends? RisibleGirl was blabbing on about another adventure on 04/07 at 05:39 AM

I had an imaginary friend and as it turns out portentous friend called RuKsaK - he insisted on the bizarre punctuation too. I think I had an imaginary friend because it stopped me from mass criminalisation.    ![]() KathyHowe wrote:
I had an imaginary dog as a child. Probably cuz when I was really little the real dog we had was a pain in the ass and I never liked playing with him. My imaginary dog was very large and orange and white. I can't remember his name off the top of my head. My son used to have an imaginary friend named "Burper". He even went so far as to tell me what house in the neighborhood Burper lived at. LOL    ![]() Bug wrote:
Wow I haven't thought about my imaginary friend in ages! Her name was Jennifer from what I can recall. Our family lived out in the middle of nowhere on an old cattle ranch and my little brother was too small to play with so I'm going to have to guess that's why I made her up.    ![]() neva wrote:
my sister (the "doctor") had an imaginary friend named Dorlina. (how did she come up with that name? i haven't a clue!) i used to feel jealous of her, tho', cuz my sis was (is) also my best friend! needless-to-say, i was glad when Dorlina moved away (or maybe my sis finally kicked her to the curb...i can't recall!) : D ps...re: american idol? katharine is okay--she's just a little too generic for my tastes. but chris?? he totally rocks!! oh, and i'll keep checking back to see how you're doin' with that anti-bucky/paris banner! tee hee! heck--i'll put one up, too, if you think it'll help!    ![]() Uncleshag wrote:
I still have imaginary friends. Maybe a lot of us do. Perhaps our best friends and sounding boards? -unc.    ![]() poopie wrote:
I never had one, but BabyGirl did. Her friend's name was Dickie and he got blamed for all the bad stuff she did. Neat idea, huh??    ![]() E wrote:
Oh! I was going to say no, but now that I think about it, my brother and I both did...and they were brother and sister. I'd have to ask my mum their names. They had a last name too LOL. We also had a fairy godmother, but that was different...mum sent us letters and things from time to time, and we knew it was her hand writing. I can't remember when or why those letters stopped.    ![]() Joel wrote:
You'd think as an only child I would have had an imaginary friend or two, three, five...but can't remember ever having a single one. I do think, however, I talked to my baseball cards - does that count?    ![]() Samantha wrote:
I had an imaginary friend called George, who wore brightly coloured suits. I found out later he looked a lot like Aldous Huxley.    ![]() ComfortAddict wrote:
I had no imaginary friends. However, I think that I did anthropomorphize my teddy bear to an exceptional degree. I think that I had more imagination (and less fear of using it) as a child than I do now. I miss that.    ![]()    ![]() Miss Cellania wrote:
My imaginary friend was named Spin. I don't know why. I don't even recall whther Spin was male or female, but he/she was my age and size. And mischevious, too! My troubles were all his/her idea!
