Confession
BJ doesn't know this (although I'm sure he suspects), but I'm secretly hoping that our current house falls through. Note the date on that entry: 10-27-04. That's almost 15 months ago, and the house hasn't even started yet.

First it was permits because it's on wetlands (if you have a cattail on your property, it's automatically wetlands) and next to a salmon creek. The permits got approved after SIX tries with the county back in September or October of 05. After the permits were approved, then the county had to come back and make sure that the wetlands were marked properly by the builder. Okey dokey. Done.

Now it's stalled (literally NOTHING has been done) because bottom of the property is flooded. That's where they need to put in the sewer lines. I'll tell you this; I do not expect it to dry out anytime soon, because it's rained non-stop for weeks (where's Noah?)

I'm getting restless people! I'm tired of living in BJ's 880 sf bachelor pad. I moved from a 2200 sf home into his bachelor pad when we got married because we knew this would be temporary. Two years later is NOT temporary. The extention to our contract with the contractor is up on 1/31/06 (which happens to be my birthday, TYVM) and we've decided that if he doesn't meet with these two 'demands', we're going to walk.

1. Same sales price (even though the property has gone up more than 50k in value already)
2. A complete list of the allowances for all the specs (including carpet, fixtures, electrical, etc.)

According to the realtor, he thinks number 2 is going to be tough since it's a pre-sale. I don't trust the builder to not skimp because he's basically losing money (but that's not OUR fault!) He's got to make it up somewhere, ya know? RisibleGirl WILL put her foot down on this, and BJ has (begrugingly) agreed.

'nuff of the rant. On to the beauty.

So, we've been looking at other places just in case. We have all the money saved for a down payment and believe that BJ's bachelor pad will sell quickly. We could be ready to go immediately if we find the right place.

About three weeks ago we viewed a house that I can't stop thinking about. Before I go on to the details, I have to tell you that when I looked into the beautiful backyard, there was a deer. When she saw us, she didn't move. She just stood there for a while and then slowly walked off. It made me feel so at peace.

The yards are a veritable paradise. I am NOT exaggerating. For someone who loves gardening as much as I do, this would be heaven. My blog may not get much attention though... tee hee.

Front Yard

Back yard (this picture does NOT do it justice)

Here's a view from the kitchen sink. Who wouldn't LOVE to do dishes from here, huh?

It also has a sun room with heated mexican stone floors looking out to the beautiful back yard. Blogging from here would be a beautiful thing.

The backyard has beautiful little stone walking trails throughout the gardens. Pay no attention to the 'dead' plants. It's winter and they're hibernating. The current owner has been kind enough to label all the plants so I'd the new owner would know how to care for them.

More stuff:
Near acre lot with plenty of privacy. 5 bdrms, remodeled kitchen with beautiful upper end stainless steel appliances. The fridge and stove are the ultimate in gadget geek appliances. New roof, gutters, & windows. Fresh interior paint, new carpet downstairs. Four extra large garages. Home is hard wired for and includes a generator. The home also includes a heat pump (I had to learn what those were, and they're REALLY cool!) It has an office on the main floor, facing the secluded front yard, and next to it is a guest bath with a shower. I guess I do work up a sweat when I'm telecommuting. Uh-huh.

Also on the main floor is a separate utility room with a shelf for folding laundry. It's adjacent to a wine cellar (or what WE deemed to be a wine cellar). Perfect location! Tee hee.

Oh, the living room has a remote control, very realistic looking, gas fireplace. Remote control, people!

The upstairs needs some remodeling, but between difference of the sales price on the two homes and the amount we planned to put in for 'extras' (like the very same appliances that are IN THIS HOUSE) we could make the upstairs really cool. The master bedroom is almost as big as the house we live in (ok, exaggerating, but not by much), and it has a slider to a balcony looking over the back yard. The master bath is to die for. It has a separate shower and a large soaking tub with plenty of counter space for books, candles, etc.

We're having problems figuring out where to put BJ's media room, but I think we could knock out the wall between two of the five bedrooms and create a media room out of that.

BJ is 'considering' the possibility of purchasing this house. I do not want to force BJ into some place that he doesn't want, so I'm being very careful with my words. I know he sometimes does things because he knows it'll make me happy, and this is too big of a thing to allow that to happen. I want him to love our home as much as I do.

I think the only drawback for BJ is that this isn't a contemporary palatial home. He likes that look. I don't because it looks too 'sterile'. I like some place that makes me feel calm and peaceful. This place is it.

I have less than two weeks and the decision will be made. I can be patient. I have the belief that if this house is "the one", then the current house *will* fall through and this house will still be on the market. Oh, and BJ will suddenly think it's the coolest house ever. I keep reminding him of the remote control fireplace. Guys like remote controls, right? tee hee.

...until then, I'll keep thinking about that deer.

Sigh.

I have a feeling if the builder stands to make an extra $50k he'll let you out of the contract easily. He's not making money when nothing is being built, so he'll be anxious to sell to a higher buyer in order to make up for teh time it has sat idle.

I love the landscaping in those pics. I wouldn't want to keep up with it, though, and all I see there is an incredible amount of maintenance. I happene to like the palatial look, too, but not limited to it. I just want to feel like I'm "home" wherever I live.

I think houses...."homes"....are a bit like cats - they choose you for their owner, rather than the other way around.

Good luck either way. I love both houses.

Wow! That is knockout gorgeous.

It's amazing how much time Harriette and I spend watching the wildlife in the preserve behind our back yard. We can spend hours feeding the little animals. They become your 1001 pets.

Wow, what a magnificent place for such a beautiful person, my cuz. One gains such peace (and wisdom about life) from little animals. They represent life as it should be. They are sooo smart. Even the quail come running when they see us. They love to be talked to.

Wow. That looks like heaven.

B.
