And a good time was (mostly) had by all
I don't think I mentioned that we went to Canada for the 4th of July weekend. How patriotic, huh? BJ and I haven't been alone on a vacation (3 day or otherwise) in over two years, so this was something I was really looking forward to. We are both very laid back, and we actually RELAX on vacation when we're together, so I never feel that I need a 'vacation' after my vacation when we travel together. See how relaxed I look? You don't see this very often, so take a mental picture.

Me and 'da old man

We stayed at the Penticton Lake Resort and Casino (we never visited the casino- not our thing...). It was absolutely perfect. That's another thing I love about traveling with BJ. He's the perfect vacation planner and researches places before he books them. It was a 6.5 hour, very scenic drive from our house. We found out that we can take a 1.5 hour plane ride if we go there again (and we will... I'm trying to convince BJ to buy a lot there for our retirement- I don't think he realizes how serious I am about this.)

The view from our room was spectacular. We sat out on our balcony and read for many hours- not saying a word. It was lovely. We had the perfect view for the evening entertainment, a couple of guys singing from 5pm until 8pm.

The only real "activity" (in quotes, because really, how active are you when you're doing this particular thing?) we got in was a wine tasting tour on Saturday, which lasted about five hours including lunch. Another couple (really fun) went on the tour with us, and the driver was great. We only went to four wineries which was plenty for me. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker, especially lately, although the tour guide did catch a shot of me having a swirl.
A good time was had by all

The weather was beautiful during the day we went wine tasting, so I had some great photo opportunities. Really, the camera can't do it justice- it was all simply amazing.

The downside of the trip was that I left all of my meds at home, so I had to go cold turkey on EVERYTHING. There are a couple of meds that I'm on that warn you about going cold turkey and by the second day, I could see why. I wasn't sure how bad it was going to get, but I was awfully glad that it was just a three day trip. I think the wine tasting actually helped sooth my nerves on Saturday, so I guess that if I'm going to leave my meds at home, the best time to do that is on a wine tasting vacation. By the time I got home, my brain and body was just a big bunch of jumbled nerves. I felt like my brain was constantly bouncing against my skull and I was jerking around like a goldfish out of water. Not.Fun.

Needless to say, I slept very well last night thanks to the advances of modern medicine. Yay drugs!

I hope y'all had a safe and happy 4th. I'll be reading about it soon.
