A darned near perfect evening
I’m sure it’s perfectly clear that I adore the bearded eye-roller to pieces, right? That said, when he’s traveling I don’t spend a lot of time boo-hooing. Instead, I treat myself to things that I normally don’t do. Last night was a perfect example.

I stopped at the mall on the way home from work. I was looking for a pair of black sandals to exchange for the sandals I bought today (more on that later…). On the way to the shop, I saw the Godiva chocolates store. I decided to buy myself a dark chocolate truffle for later. Yep, just one.

When I got home, I made my favorite treat; nachos (sans chips), topped with Vietnamese hot chili garlic sauce. Surprised? I didn’t think so.

Then I ordered the pay-per-view I’ve been meaning to see for quite a while now; Pride and Prejudice. I *love* Jane Austin books/movies, so I knew I’d love this.

I was right. The scenery was beautiful, and of course there was the whole ‘unrequited love” thing going on. I’m a sucker for movies or books with unrequited love- especially when it turns into requited love. Sigh…..

I cried a few times during the movie (again, sucker for that sort of thing…), but I think the thing that got me the most was the part where Elizabeth was talking to her father (Donald Sutherland) about wanting to marry Mr. Darcy. The conversation between she and her dad was what I imagined would be the conversation I’d have with my dad if I were talking to him about the bearded eye-roller. My dad and I didn’t have the opportunity to talk about the bearded eye-roller in person when I knew I was very serious about him because my parents were in another state. The reaction of Elizabeth’s dad was something that I’d imagine my dad would have had- especially since I was wrong about him in the beginning. Something, like Elizabeth, I'd shared with my dad.

My dad has asked me to tell him what I think of the movie (he’s also a huge Jane Austin fan), and so I’m sending him a copy of this post. I hope he sees the same things I did when he watches that scene.

I can’t think of anything better than a sappy period piece, nachos (sans chips) with Vietnamese hot chili garlic sauce, and a Godiva dark truffle- all in one evening.

Well, unless it also contained the bearded eye-roller being with me and liking those same things. Since he doesn’t like any of those things (except the chocolate!), I’m happy that I have the opportunity to have this time to enjoy my little slice of heaven.

Sounds heavenly to me! And its even better for you because it doesn't happen all that often. Now, its a sign of wisdom when you can take the most pleasure out of what come your way.

I hear you loud and clear. I love my honey, too. But the alone time? It's priceless. Allows me to selfishly indulge in all about me, and recharge myself for the all about us times. That you can appreciate the value of these moments, too, is just one of the many things I've always loved you.

How can you possibly make nachos without chips? It's unAmerican! lol Truly, I need to know this.

I love the time I get alone and I cherish just like you would. I loved the other Pride & Prejudice, the A&E one that had Colin Firth playing Mr Darcy... I love the story though so I'm sure I'd like this one just as much.

I'm glad you are enjoying yourself!
