Friday, February 04, 2005Training a new doctor
Our company has changed insurance carriers, and my current doctor is not one of the approved physicians. Since I have a liver disorder, it's important that I have a good doctor that understands the importance of regular CT scans, ultrasounds and blood work. So, I'm doing a meet and greet with a new doctor on Wednesday. They have a website, so I decided to look up his bio. In it, I read, "I believe it is important that we take care of ourselves through fitness and healthy eating. I enjoy discussing exercise with my patients.... " I liked my old doctor. She was chubby too, and realized that I have a mirror and a brain and know that I should lose weight and exercise. I have a feeling I'm gonna get lectured. Gah!!! When I read that bio, I was reminded of a Hospice patient of mine. Toward the end, she was rarely awake. I sat in the room with her while her husband was out running errands. Toward the end, she was very disoriented when she'd wake up and would have very few lucid moments. That is what makes this story so funny. The ONE lucid moment she had was when she decided to give me diet tips. It went something like this: An hour of snore snore, mumble mumble, then she looked at me and very clearly said , "Dear, maybe if you used a little less salt, that might take care of the weight problem. Or, maybe eat less meat". snore snore, mumble mumble. I still giggle thinking about it. RisibleGirl was blabbing on about her adventures again on 02/04 at 02:57 PM

‘Cause we’re romantic like that
We went to dinner with some friends last Sunday. It was the first time they'd met hubby, so they wanted to hear from the horses mouth what made him change his mind about being a lifelong bachelor. He said, "I got to imagining us being old together. I could see myself as an old man on the back porch sitting with one of my buddies, and [RisibleGirl] bringing us out some lemonade". So of course I had the whole "sigh and swoon" thing going on in my head. ....... until he continued. He went on to say, "I then could imagine her smacking me upside the back of my head after I make some rude comment about her lemonade. And I decided I kind of liked that image". Well, I guess his is better than what I tell everyone; "He's the first one that didn't make me want to throw up at the thought of a second date". Thursday, February 03, 2005Currently overhearing while on the train
I've been sitting here on the train, minding my own business. Generally, I either read one of my e-books, read email, or play one of my games on my treo. I don't pay much attention to conversations going on around me unless something is said very loudly. I only heard this piece of a conversation(because it was LOUD): "his eye was the size of a golfball, and they had to suck it right out of his head." Then she got all quiet again. Whaaaaa??? huh????? So now, you get to have the same image in your head. You're welcome. Sent from my Treo RisibleGirl was blabbing on about her adventures again on 02/03 at 06:47 AM

Tuesday, February 01, 2005Because I’m 12…
BJ asks me if I’m “12” all the time. Ok, maybe I do have an adolescent sense of humor sometimes (OK, *most* of the time). Anyway, I thought I’d share with you what is cracking me up today. Enjoy! RisibleGirl was blabbing on about her adventures again on 02/01 at 03:36 AM

Monday, January 31, 2005I was born to manage people
...and here's proof. BJ loves repeating this story, so it must be a good one. Like most little girls, when I was young I played Barbies with my friends. I probably wasn't much fun to play with though, because playing Barbies with me went something like this: Little RisibleGirl: "Ok, now you make your Barbie say this..." Little RisibleGirl: "Ok, now make your Barbie do this...." Eventually, nobody wanted to play Barbies with me anymore. But that was OK with me, because that meant that nobody'd give me ANY lip on what I wanted the Barbie's to say or do. RisibleGirl was blabbing on about her adventures again on 01/31 at 02:57 PM
