Head Bonking

A coupla things...

I called the neurologist's office and left a message on their voicemail. It's their lunchtime, dontchaknow.

Now - I just might get a call back beause I seem to have gone backward in the progress and it's kina freaking me out. I woke up kind of jerking around. Not too bad, so figured it was nothing.

(I do a lot of that 'figuring it's nothing' stuff- don't I?)

I went to the office today and sometime around 9ish, I started feeling 'funny'. Then I started feeling nauseated. Then shakey, and now very foggy.

I walked to the drugstore to get something for nausea, and my legs were tingling all the way up my thighs and I felt like I couldn't walk right. Like my knees were doing funny things and I felt totally off balance. I was sincerely afraid that I was going to pass out, so got my butt back to the office ASAP.

Here's the thing. I have a job interview with HR in about an hour. I think I'm still going to keep the appointment- but let them know what's going on. I mean, it's within my company- so they can look up my records and see that I'm not some flake, right? Besides, I look really good today- shouldn't waste the outfit.

I'll post when I hear from the neuro's office. If I don't hear from them- then I will go to the office IN PERSON tomorrow.

I guess I need to get more of a backbone (in more ways than one, apparently- - ).

Gah- I feel really REALLY weired. But I can still type- so there's that.

I called the neurologist's office to see if they have the MRI results. The Super! (not) Friendly! (not) person who answered the phone said (and I quote):

Super Snotty Person (SSP): Did we set up a follow-up appointment with Dr 'x' to discuss the results?
Me: Well, yes- but it's not until July 9th.
SSP: Well, that's when you'll get your results.
Me: (kinda pulls phone away from ear and looks at it like it's just poked me in the head) Ummmm, OK.
SSP: Click

Wow! I'm seriously imagining this person with a very short skirt, twirling her hair and chomping gum. In other words- I'm NOT impressed.

I shall satisfy myself with the idea that if it's something horribly serious (like my head is about to sever from my body) they WILL call me. Otherwise, we'll just wait until the 9th, I guess.

::shrugs shoulders::

Leaps and bounds, people. Every day I'm SO.MUCH.BETTER. I can't begin to tell you what a relief this is. I was seriously trying to figure out how to let the bearded eye-roller off the hook. I couldn't imagine saddling him with this the rest of his life.

Thankfully, he just needs to be worried about being saddled with my adolescent sense of humor. He may say that he doesn't think I'm very funny- but we all know differently.

I'm going to start responding to comments again, now that I can type faster than 2 words per hour. I do want to just thank everyone, again, for all of your thoughts and kind words. Wow. You guys are THE BEST. It's a pretty cool lil' family we have here on the world wide web, isn't it?

I'll let you know what the MRI results are when they come in. Based on how I'm feeling, I don't expect that there will be anything remarkable to write about. It was confirmed by the gal doing the MRI that there is indeed a brain in my head. That's good enough for me.

After work, I'll try to go blog hopping to see what y'all have been up to.

And Sheila? I relinquish the medical drama back to your court. I sincerely hope that you've found a super groovy eye patch by now (arrrgh, matey)- but even more, I hope that you're back to normal (ha, whatever that is!) soon.

Wow- it's a good thing they had my head tied down or I would have jerked myself right off the friggin' table. I'm highly 'unhinged' (for lack of a better word) by loud sounds and bright lights these days, so this was no fun at all.

The technician said that my doctor should have the MRI results by EOD Wednesday. We'll see.... we'll see....

Tomorrow will be my first public appearance in the office. Cross your fingers that I don't act like an imbecile.

All brain cells seem to be functioning OK now. Just a little jerking and shaking around. Maybe I'll just play some groovy music at my desk and people will think I'm getting my groove on.

Yesterday was the semi-annual block party. We missed the first two, and swore that we'd attend this one come hell or high water so we didn't appera unsocial. We really haven't met any of our neighbors except our next door neighbors.

I REALLY didn't want to go, but went anyway because BER said that we could just show our faces then leave. OK, fine.

Thankfully, I can look good even if I don't seem very smart- eh?

One of the neighbors though I'd been drinking (was it the slurred speech perhaps? or was it the inability to form complete sentences... who knows). I decided to come clean with the head injury because Lord knows, I don't need the neighbors thinking they have Dori the Drunk living in the 'hood.

I guess that was a good idea, because people seemed a lot nicer to me after word spread. I guess I really do seem a little 'off' in person (well, probably here on my blog too), and maybe people were wondering about me since this was the first time they've met me.

I'm back at work today (from home). Don't know how effective I'll be- but my mad typing skillz are coming back, which is a good thing.
