Due to the horrible stench coming from the refrigerators at work last week, there were signs posted everywhere to keep the doors to the kitchen closed. Even with the doors closed, the smell seemed to seep out into the general area. It was, well, disgusting.

A quick look through the fridge produced food that was obviously growing, including a black mushy cantaloupe, containers of four month old yogurt, rotten fruit and of course, the usual suspect sour milk. It was apparent that there would be a need for a deeper cleaning. We posted signs and readied ourselves for the experience.

Risking Our Very Lives
The face masks started out as a joke, but after we entered the “zone” we realized we needed them. The stench was just as bad as the week before. It was pretty gross.

OK, this one is way too easy. In case you're wondering, that is a Weight Watchers sticker.

Yeah.... that makes me want to diet too.

It’s dripping. It’s gooey. It’s disgusting. Did you guess what it was? Me neither.
I'll make this one easy on you. It was a big box o' butter. Seeing that this butter box was sitting in a pool of goo, I'm not sure I'd want to use it. Maybe that's just me.
I took one for the team, but at least they have a clean fridge now.

That's a hell of a lot of crap growing in the fridge.
   

One last note about the signs.....

This is one of the annoying signs in the kitchen trying to tell people how to be responsible workmates.

Attention sign maker: The signs only serve to annoy us. They don't work!

I've yet to be in an office where everyone cleans up after themselves, no matter how many signs are in the kitchen.

Here's the irony folks… this person who makes these signs? When it came time to clean out the fridge where was this person? This person was standing behind us, watching and making comments about the things we pulled out of the fridge.

Standing and watching and making signs. That's helpful. That gets the job done.
